Critics Love New Reality Show Starring Kells: Oral Sex And The City
Reality TV has taken over television programming on just about every major network. I've put together a list of some Reality TV shows that have caught my attention. As always I'm brutally honest so don't be surprised.
My Top 5 Dumbest Reality TV Shows
1) Laguna Beach (The Hills) - The success of this show simply amazes me. Anyone who studies or pays attention to directorial concepts and repetitive plot dialogue can easily tell most of the scenes are rehearsed. The constant blabbering of complete nonsense gets old pretty quick. I think MTV was brilliant when they brainstormed the idea to shoot a Reality TV show based primarily on 90210 episodes. It just goes to show how stupid the MTV executives think their viewers are. It's almost like they're feeding you shit and telling you it's pasta.
Many characters of the show have come forward and admitted most of the show is staged. Although the characters are real - the drama is often fueled by the producer's suggestions. It's pure comedy how most fans of the show think otherwise.
2) College Hill - Just when young African Americans were finally being socially uplifted in America, you have BET to step in and make a total mockery of college education. Most episodes are based primarily on premarital sex, drunken behavior, and enough drama to keep the average Soap Opera viewer dying for more. The fact that the show is called "College Hill" makes me question the marketing scheme behind BET's main goal. When you think about it, how many times has the show based an episode primarily on college (studies, classroom projects, financial aid etc.) in general. Perhaps the title should be called "Monkies' Tree" - that would further support most of the behavior on the show.
It's embarrassing to watch at times, especially when I question what other races think of African Americans while watching the show. Again, this show seems more like Discovery Channel behavior than anything.
3) Nanny 911 - The idea of a complete stranger coming into a home and teaching parents how to discipline their child seems silly. After watching several episodes it's quite obvious these people are from another planet. Whenever a 7 year old child is mandating what he or she is going to do, things seems a bit unreal.
These parents need to come visit my mother. She'd teach them a technique called "Beat Down 101" - it originated in the "Negroplease Tribe" which is in the same family of the "Slap-A-Hoe" technique. This technique seems way more effective than the Nanny's popular technique of placing a child on time out.
4) Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is - BET should be ashamed. Instead of focusing on Keyshia Cole's career, the show is primarily based on her circus like family. Her mother, an ex drug abuser and felon has become the face of the show. Instead of straying away from her mother's character, BET embraces it. You would think before the taping of the show BET would have offered some sensitivity and etiquette classes for Keyshia Cole's family. But as always ratings are the main focus, so BET does nothing to get in the way of producing such buffoonery.
5) Super Sweet 16 - The concept of the show disgusts me. 16 year old brats force their parents into purchasing overly ridiculous birthday parties. While it might seem harmless in the beginning, it quickly turns stupid when producers show preadults throwing temper tantrums because mommy won't buy the new BMW 645, which they'll ultimately get at the end of the show regardless.
I think it's fantastic their parents would spend that type of money on them in one night. However it wouldn't hurt if the teens were a tad bit more humble.
My Top 5 Favorite Reality TV Shows
1) Being Bobby Brown - For years everyone believed Bobby Brown was the lunatic in the marriage between himself and Whitney Houston. After watching this reality show it became evident Whitney was the lunatic and Bobby was the only person that could keep her under control. There wasn't one episode that failed to grasp my attention. In fact I feel there weren't enough episodes. If it were up to me there would of been multiple seasons with perhaps a spin off based primarily on Whitney Houston.
Unfortunately due to their recent divorce, Whitney Houston refuses to sign the rights away to have the DVD sold in stores.
2) Run's House - To a lot of people's surprise much of Run's House is scripted. There are so many obvious bloopers within the show that Internet sites everywhere have started threads to keep up with them. The more recent seasons are nothing but promotional gimmicks for the kid's careers (shoe line, magazine, rap career, acting career, etc.) However the family's bond often makes up for the blatant scripted camera angels that could only be construed as rehearsed dialogue.
....With that said, it's refreshing to see an African American family with great morality, and positive substance. The concluding messages in every episode remind me of the Bill Cosby show. That's something we haven't seen in a long time.
3) Cops - The longest running reality TV show has proven time and time again you can't outsmart the police. Every episode takes you into the front seat of the action and doesn't show the hours and hours of paperwork, and processing that police officer's go through after the arrest. Nope, none of the boring stuff makes this show - only the outrageous and unthinkable events make the cut.
4) Cheaters - Probably one of the TV shows I'd be most likely to make an appearance on at some point in my life. Now determining whether or not I'd be the victim or the suspect is entirely up to you (don't think too hard, you might hurt your self).
The surveillance on the show is one thing, but the confrontations take the cake. Whether it's breaking down a hotel room door, or storming in a bar it just never seems to get boring. The host does a great job of taunting the suspect with suppressive questioning mixed with mild sarcasm.
5) Gotti's Way - I love this show because of how raw the dialogue between Irv Gotti and his wife. Gotti acknowledges that he can sometimes be an asshole, yet he's provocatively passionate about maintaining a relationship with his wife, step daughter, and two sons. Irv says what a lot of men are afraid to say about women........in front of women. After watching one episode I was immediately hooked.

For years people said Bill Clinton was our nation's first Black President because of how well he connected with minorities. Now that Barack Obama has a good chance to repeat Clinton's success it's only natural for people to compare the two. Come to think of it, do you think Obama will make some of the same mistakes Clinton made?
I know people everywhere believe all children are created equal, therefore people believe all children are cute in their own way. That could be no further from the truth.
They say what you don't know can't hurt you, just another reason why I'm in no rush to learn one of Victoria's Secrets.
Lastly, it appears the man involved with robbing Young Berg recently gave his daughter (yes that's a girl) the chain as a birthday present. Wow I bet she's the main attraction at her school's show and tell.
Final Thought: It's obvious that most of reality TV is fake. You shouldn't feel guilty because you enjoy it, you should feel guilty if you believe it. Don't be the dumb kid at age 10 still putting cookies under the Xmas tree. Grow up.
