The Blueprint: My high school teacher Mr. Lenon was recently arrested and charged with two counts of criminal sexual abuse. Allegedly between November 2005, and January 2006 Mr. Lenon fondled two teenage boys on different occasions. One of the boys claimed that while driving Mr. Lennon's Lincoln Navigator Mr. Lenon grabbed his penis. After a couple of years passed the victim of that incident shared a similar story with another student at Kenwood. Afterwards both students went forward and told their stories to the Chicago Police Department.

My Personal Experience: I was a student of Mr. Lenon's Multimedia Class for 2 years (2003-2004). Mr. Lenon wasn't your average teacher. At times he could seem like the nicest guy in the world, and at other times he could be seen leisurely cursing at students and using mild profanity that would even make a Navy Sailor cringe. I felt privileged to be apart of Mr. Lenon's Multimedia Class which featured web design, graphic design, PowerPoint presentations, etc. At the time - the class was on an "invite only" status (only 2 classes/40 students). It didn't take long for me to realize I was the outcast of the classroom. I didn't sing, I barely played a musicale instrument, I wasn't on the honor roll, and I hung out with a totally opposite crowd - however, Mr. Lenon didn't treat me any differently. Mr. Lenon had a connection with every individual student of his on some sort of level. I remember an incident where Mr. Lenon pulled me to the side and vehemently told me that I couldn't date (have sex with) one particular young lady in his choir program. He was always very protective of his students. It's not that he felt I wasn't good enough, he just knew of my intentions at the time. See Mr. Lenon knew me well; he read me like a book. I was by far his worst student academically, and behavior wise. Regardless Mr. Lenon always pointed out that he thought I was one of his most gifted students. While most of his students in the class were having hard times with their Power Point presentations Mr. Lenon would give me more challenging projects such as designing and creating my own magazine, or developing a web graphic for the infamous Kenwood Concert Choir. It wasn't unusual for Mr. Lenon and I to sit down and have talks that would somehow always end with him preaching to me. I don't know why - but he was always worried about my progress in school. This left me very confused at times. Why did he care so much? There were a ton students in my high school that Mr. Lenon didn't think twice to speak to in my same position, so why did he take a chance on me? The truth is I'll probably never know that answer. Needless to say I got an A in every quarter of his classroom.

Rumors: Mr. Lenon's name was always associated with some kind of controversy. If it wasn't his outlandish rampages, then it definitely was his sometimes questionable relationships with certain male students. See at my high school we had a lot of "down low" male students. For some reason all these students were associated with Mr. Lenon in some form of fashion. It was completely normal to see these same guys hanging in Mr. Lenon's classroom during or after school. Now this is not to say that female students weren't seen flocking around as well, however the ratio of females to males doesn't compare. The rumors of Mr. Lenon giving male students rides home always made me question him at times. There were even rumors of Mr. Lenon inviting students over his house on the weekends. So with all the rumors circulating these past years it really doesn't surprise me to hear about his recent arrest. It's sad that a man with that much impact on so many students is now behind bars.

Wikipedia on Mr. Lenon's Concert Choir: The Kenwood Academy Concert Choir is an eighty plus member choir under the direction of Mr. Kenneth M. Lenon. They have performed all over the city of Chicago as well as at churches, colleges and universities, and vocal competitions nationwide. Stars such as Denzel Washington and The Winans have shared billings, at their own requests, with the Kenwood Concert Choir. Members of the Concert Choir have also sung for Senator Barack Obama.

Final Thought: Looks like it didn't take Chris Hansen to reveal what kinda guy Mr. Lenon really was. I'm 100% positive there are hundreds if not thousands of alumni who are supporting Mr. Lenon right now. His bail was set at $150,000 - which means he needs $15,000 to post bail. With Kenwood alumni like R. Kelly, Chaka Khan, Nazr Mohammed (NBA), Quincy Black (NFL), Da Brat, among others - I'm sure somebody will post his bail.
